What to expect in therapy

Starting therapy can feel vulnerable — especially if you’re used to being the strong one, the capable one, the one who holds everything together. My role is to offer you a space where you don’t have to perform, prove, or push through. You get to simply be human here.

Your First Session

Our first meeting is a gentle but intentional starting point. We’ll talk about:

  • What’s been weighing on you
  • What brings you to therapy now
  • Your history, patterns, and relationships
  • What you’re hoping might feel different

You don’t need a perfect summary of your life.

You don’t need the “right” words.

You just need to show up as you are.

The Ongoing Work

Therapy with me is collaborative, practical, and emotionally attuned. We may explore:

  • Thought patterns and emotional responses
  • Relationship dynamics and boundaries
  • Identity shifts, motherhood, and matrescence
  • Perfectionism, burnout, and self-expectations
  • Anxiety, mood changes, and stress management
  • Past experiences that continue to shape your present

Sometimes sessions feel lighter.

Sometimes they go deep.

Often, they do both.

We move at your pace — with compassion, curiosity, and clarity.

What Therapy Is (and Isn’t)

Therapy is a place to:

  • Speak freely without judgment
  • Feel supported and understood
  • Learn tools that actually fit your real life
  • Gain insight into your patterns and reactions
  • Build healthier boundaries and self-trust

Therapy is not about:

  • Being “fixed”
  • Being told what to do
  • Performing or impressing
  • Having everything figured out

Progress & Expectations

Growth isn’t linear.

Some weeks feel steady and strong.

Other weeks feel messy and uncertain.

Both are part of the work.

You may notice:

  • More clarity in your decisions
  • Less emotional reactivity
  • Stronger boundaries
  • A deeper sense of self
  • Increased confidence and calm
  • A growing ability to choose yourself without guilt
