Kristen G. Hering Ph.D. PMH-C

Dr. Kristen Ghersi Hering earned her Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in 2009, followed by a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2011. She went on to complete a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2014 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2017.

In 2017, Dr. Hering was honored with the University of Detroit Mercy’s Distinguished Clinical Practice Award in recognition of her exceptional contributions to clinical practice during her doctoral training. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center, where she specialized in interprofessional mental health care, interdisciplinary collaboration, program development, and inpatient psychiatric services.

Her clinical interests include perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, women’s health and fertility concerns, pregnancy loss and associated grief responses, adjustment challenges among new parents, and the psychological processes involved in matrescence.  She has completed and has been certified as Perinatal Mental Health Counselor (PMH-C) by Postpartum Support International (PSI).
